Overview
TU Delft offers competitive scholarships for international students pursuing two-year regular MSc programmes. The university provides 16 full scholarships through the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence foundation and 2 partial scholarships specifically for the MSc Electrical Engineering programme (Microelectronics track). These awards aim to attract exceptional talent from around the world, including Zimbabwe and the broader SADC region, to contribute to a diverse and innovative academic community focused on sustainability.
Important note: TU Delft receives far more scholarship applications than it can fund. Applicants should carefully evaluate their competitiveness, ensure they meet all eligibility criteria, and plan for the financial costs of a two-year programme if unsuccessful.

Financial Planning for African Applicants
For applicants from Zimbabwe and SADC countries: TU Delft emphasizes transparency about costs. Check the Tuition Fees & Finances page to understand statutory versus institutional rates, as this affects your tuition coverage. The scholarship covers fees “according to the registered nationality,” which means your tuition rate depends on your passport country.
Full details of allowances and payment schedules are disclosed in the award letter. Financial extensions beyond the 2-year programme period are not supported.
Alternative Funding Options
If unsuccessful, explore:
- Your local embassy or education ministry for country-specific study abroad scholarships
- Global scholarship search tools
- Other provider scholarships (check TU Delft’s scholarships from other providers page)
Student Experiences
Past recipients highlight that these scholarships provide more than financial support. Kanza Zafar (ME, 2026) noted the confidence gained to contribute to the community that invested in her future. Sarah Sultana (CEG, 2026) emphasized the freedom to focus fully on studies and choose genuinely interesting courses. For SADC applicants concerned about adapting to new environments, Eden Pfanner (AE, 2025) described how living in the Netherlands and meeting people worldwide helped her grow tremendously as both engineer and person.
