Program Overview
The DFC Graduate Trainee Program is a structured career development initiative designed to identify, train, and equip young professionals with the skills required for success in real estate practice. Operated by DIYA, Fatimilehin & Co., a Nigerian real estate services firm, the program combines classroom instruction, hands-on training through business rotations, and special project assignments.
The program serves two purposes: nurturing the next generation of real estate professionals and building a pipeline of qualified talent for the firm. Participants who complete the full program are retained in permanent positions, making this an employment pathway rather than purely an educational award.

Program Structure and Timeline
The selection process operates in two distinct phases:
- Phase 1: A 6-week training program covering essential business skills for the modern workplace
- Phase 2: A 6-month immersion program combining classroom training, hands-on rotations across business areas, and special project assignments
Only trainees who progress to and complete the 6-month immersion phase are offered full-time positions. This structure allows both the firm and participants to assess mutual fit before making long-term commitments.

- Technical and soft skills honed through practical application
- Direct exposure to senior officers and career visibility within the organization

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Minimum second-class degree from an accredited university
- Maximum age of 27 years at time of application
- Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program
- No more than 2 years of post-NYSC work experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and shared work platforms
- Evidence of extracurricular, volunteer, or community-building activities
The program specifically targets university graduates passionate about building careers in real estate practice. The work experience limitation suggests preference for early-career professionals rather than mid-career transitions.
Application Process
Applications are submitted through an online portal. The official application link is available on the program webpage. Candidates should prepare documentation demonstrating academic qualifications, NYSC completion, extracurricular involvement, and technical competencies.
Considerations for Zimbabwe and SADC Applicants
While the program is administered by a Nigerian firm and requires NYSC completion, the eligibility criteria do not explicitly restrict applications to Nigerian citizens. However, the NYSC requirement creates a practical barrier for Zimbabwean and other SADC nationals unless they have completed equivalent national service programs in Nigeria or hold dual status.
For SADC residents with Nigerian educational backgrounds or those willing to relocate, the program offers valuable insights into West African real estate markets. The skills developed—property valuation, client management, market analysis—transfer across regional markets, though regulatory frameworks differ.
Important Dates
Application Deadline: October 12, 2026
Applicants should submit well before this date to ensure full consideration and to allow time for any technical issues with the online portal.
