Overview
The Halcyon Africa Innovation in Agriculture and Food Security Program 2027 is a fellowship designed for founders building market-based solutions that strengthen agriculture and food systems across Sub-Saharan Africa. The program targets ventures that improve livelihoods for smallholder farmers, enhance food security, and help communities adapt to climate challenges.
Unlike traditional academic scholarships, this is a venture-building fellowship. Selected entrepreneurs receive funding, technical support, and access to a global network of 650+ founders. The program is hybrid, combining virtual programming with two in-person residencies in Accra, Ghana and Nairobi, Kenya.

Eligibility Requirements
Location and Market
Applicants must be based in Sub-Saharan Africa. Ventures should demonstrate early evidence of impact on smallholder farmers, low-income communities, or food systems.
Venture Stage
- Working Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with realistic scaling potential
- Paid-pilot or post-revenue stage (not pre-revenue)
- Early commercial traction demonstrated through revenue, customer contracts, or paid pilots
- Market validation showing genuine demand
Team Requirements
- Applicant must be CEO or hold primary decision-making authority
- May apply with up to one co-founder
- Must be working full-time on the venture
- Fluent in English (all programming conducted in English)
- At least 21 years old by program start
Impact and Engagement
- Venture must contribute to one or more UN Sustainable Development Goals
- Market-based approach to agriculture and food systems
- Commitment to participate in all residencies, virtual sessions, and program activities

Application Process

Applicants should prepare documentation showing revenue evidence, customer contracts, farmer impact data, and scaling plans. The pitch presentation is critical—founders must demonstrate both commercial viability and measurable social impact.
