What Is the Kectil Program?
The Kectil Program (The Knowles Educational and Charitable Trust for International Leadership) is a flagship initiative of the Malmar Knowles Family Foundation. It is a merit-based platform that bridges the gap between ambitious young minds and their readiness to perform as ethical leaders, social entrepreneurs, and grassroots innovators.
The program is not a traditional scholarship for university study. Instead, it provides intensive training, mentorship, and global networking for youth who demonstrate passion, dedication, and potential for community impact. Over 10 years, the Kectil ecosystem has grown to include more than 14,000 youth leaders across 100+ countries.

Why Zimbabwe and SADC Applicants Should Apply
The Kectil Program explicitly includes Zimbabwe and neighboring countries in its eligible applicant pool. With regional chapters and centers in Zambia and Kenya, African participants gain both global exposure and regional connection. The program’s focus on ethical leadership, social entrepreneurship, and grassroots innovation aligns with the challenges and opportunities facing young leaders across Southern Africa.
The Community Project Initiative offers particular value: participants can develop local solutions for food security, health access, environmental sustainability, or economic development—with the potential for international recognition and prizes.
